Traffic Cameras - Caught You! Or Did It?

Technology is continuing to change our lives and impact our driving experience. With new technologies continuing to improve upon vehicle safety, there is one variable vehicle manufacturers cannot change: driver behavior. Since the first automobile rolled off the assembly line, a plethora of new ideas and policies to help control driver behavior has been developed.

One of the most recent additions to the safe driver toolkit is traffic cameras, which range from red light cameras to speed cameras that take a picture of your license plate when you exceed the posted speed threshold.

These cameras help influence driver behavior in the same way that traffic patrols do. You never know when you might get caught so it's better to always obey the law. But we all know technology sometimes fails. Are traffic cameras any different? According to a recent article in Land Line that answer is no. Land Line recently reported on an issue in Fort Dodge, IA, where truck and bus drivers have been incorrectly ticketed by speed cameras.

Worried your commercial vehicle may be improperly ticketed by speed cameras? Technology using GPS to monitor your fleet and drivers' speed can give you the information required to fight erroneous tickets as well as identify drivers requiring additional safety training.

Safety on the road is something we can all get behind, but ensure you're protected through a proactive commitment to increasing your fleet safety and smile for the camera.
